Dog During Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy

Did your pet recently have surgery? Are they experiencing arthritis pain? If so, they may benefit from Class IV Companion® Laser Therapy, available here at Animal Kingdom Veterinary Care Center. Laser therapy is a surgery-free, FDA-approved treatment that’s been clinically proven to treat more than a dozen acute and chronic conditions in pets, with no known side effects. These conditions include:

  • Arthritis
  • Back pain/disc disease
  • Dermatitis
  • Hot spots
  • Lick granulomas
  • Post-surgical healing/pain relief
  • Sprains and strains
  • Tendonitis
  • Wounds

Benefits of Laser Therapy

Laser therapy involves light energy to safely and painlessly penetrate deep into tissue to stimulate the cells to heal. As a result, your pet can experience:

  • A reduction in inflammation
  • Pain relief
  • Faster wound healing
  • Improved nerve function
  • Acceleration of cell growth and tissue repair
  • Improved blood flow to injury sites

What to Expect During Pet Laser Therapy

The laser light is applied to the affected area(s) of the body using a non-invasive handheld device. No sedation of any kind is required. However, what IS required is for anyone in the treatment room to wear protective eyewear. During the therapy session, pets typically experience a warm, soothing sensation that’s comparable to that of a massage. We find that some pets become so relaxed, that they fall asleep! Most sessions are completed in approximately 10 minutes. However, this number varies, depending on the specific condition being treated.
